Edmond-Spikes-Troup Family Reunion

Our first family group appeared on a 1856 inventory and appraisement report for enslaved families on Troup's Turkey Creek Plantation.

Lee and Mariah Troup and their four boys... Champ, Charles, Wallace and Obediah are the link that brings us together as the Edmond-Spikes-Troup Family.

We do not know the reason for the name change, but based on the historical factors of the time, we can assume that the family wanted to distance themselves from the person and people who enslaved them for all those years. Champ, Charles and Wallace Troup changed their surname to Edmond. However, Wallace went a step further and added a “s” to the Edmond name and is the reason many of our relatives are known as the Edmonds. While three of the brothers moved away from the Troup name, Obediah kept it, but with a twist. He simply added an "e”.

We sailed the high seas for six days to ports in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, and Mexico. With so many onboard activities and events, the family had a great 2024 family reunion.
