Mr. Oliver Edmond, Jr., was born on June 6 ,1949 to the late Mr. Oliver and Willie Bell Dixon Edmond, Sr. He moved to Detroit, Michigan, at an early age to pursue a construction career. He became the first African American Crane Operator to join his local city union, where he worked as a crane operator for Adamo Construction for thirty five years, until his health started to decline. He was also preceded in death by six sisters, and five brothers, Marie Thomas, Dorothy Stevens, Annie B. Story, Ethel Mae Hightower, Eva Mae Guyton, Rosa Mae Harris, D. D. Edmond, Robert Lee Edmond, J. B. Edmond, J. D. Edmond, and Thomas Edmond. Mr. Edmond passed away on April 6, 2019.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Ella Edmond, a sister, Ella Mae Holliman of Kissiminee, Florida, six children, Rhonda Cummings, Veronica Edmond of East Dublin, William Edmond of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Oliver Travis Edmond of Detroit, Michigan, and Delilah Isaac of Detroit, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, Laquisha Bryant Jones, Calvin Walker, and Keith Walker, of East Dublin, William Edmond Jr., of Houston, Texas, Jherrico Edmond of Dublin, Jessica Edmond of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Zora Morning of North Carolina, Antonio Edmond, Ahriah Edmond, Amyre Walton, Amarion Walton, all of Detroit, Michigan, six great grandchildren, Jeremiah Worthen Bryant Jones, Jr., Jesiah Jones, Brayden Jones, and Chloe’ Walker, all of Dublin, and Tristen Harvey of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, lifelong friends, Danny Stewart, Damon Daniels, and Catha Mae Edmond, special devoted niece and nephews, Ruby Mitchell, Anthony(Dorothy)Mitchell, and Calvin Green, all of Michigan.
